The Galisteo Inn, Santa Fe County, NM

Dear %PERS_NAME%,

We just received your contact info via New Mexico Tourism. You expressed an interest in New Mexico at the International Pow Wow in Orlando, Florida May 6-10, 2006.

You would be most welcome at The Galisteo Inn - it is a 1705 gorgeous hacienda, now a 13-room boutique hotel. Each of the rooms has a different theme relating to the history of the hacienda.

The Galisteo Inn is in the picturesque village of Galisteo, and the village is full of classic New Mexican architecture of adobe structures, set against low rock walls and beautiful, huge cottonwood trees. Before the days of Spanish influence in the Southwest, Galisteo was the site of an Indian pueblo which in its heyday had more than a thousand inhabitants. Galisteo's golden sky and prairie have become home and inspiration for many world-famous artists. In addition, many movies are filmed in and around the area. Galisteo means "village of many names," and is now inhabited by some two hundred people of many nationalities. Tom Ford has just bought a 20,000 acre ranch in the village of Galisteo.

The Galisteo Inn as it stands today, was built in 1703 and was originally the 11 room home of the Ortiz y Pino family and was used as their land grant headquarters. Descendants of the family still live in the village of Galisteo. All of the exterior walls and most of the interior walls of the main hacienda are original. They are double or triple thickness adobe. The wide-plank entrance hallway leads you into the adobe's dining room, now known as La Mancha. The west wing of the Inn was the village store and the room now known as the "tack room" was part of the original stables. Several rooms have their old fireplaces which warm the place up in winter and give the place a wonderful smell as wood-smoke permeates the air. The Inn also features missionary-style wood carved doors, many handmade and hand-carved. The pond at the lower end of the property is actually a spring. The water at the Inn is well water and is delicious to drink. Views from the rooms are either of the pasture/lawn or of the courtyard and pool area.

The Galisteo Inn has recently been re-furbished in a vibrant mix of old and new by the trendy Ballantines Group, making the Inn a welcoming and beautiful place for a retreat. Guests can enjoy an old ambiance and architecture with all the modern comforts such as a 50ft heated lap pool and hot tub, indoor sauna, continental breakfast, wireless internet connection, EO amenities, in-room massage and gourmet dining in the in-house renowned restaurant. Enrique Guerrero, a popular local Chef now heads up the Inn's La Mancha restaurant. Guerrero's culinary skills are well-regarded in the local and national press. His food is known as "Nuevo Hacienda Cuisine."

As well as offering a beautiful pool and garden area, The Galisteo Inn provides information/reservations for horse riding, hiking, The Galisteo Studio Tour, fly fishing, balloon rides, Harley Davidson rentals, mountain biking, rock climbing, Opera, cross-country skiing, river rafting, golf, gold panning, to mention a few. While being totally secluded, Galisteo is only 20 minutes away from Santa Fe, the very arty and sophisticated capital of New Mexico.

The Galisteo Inn is extremely private; it is a unique, fun, charming and very quiet location with lots of history. The Galisteo Inn has a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that encapsulates so much of New Mexico's great beauty together with Spanish charm.
